The Poetry Cure event that is being held on Friday 29th May, 6pm, organised by NCLA and being held at the Great North Museum will now be streamed LIVE!!!!
Due to the popularity of this event all the tickets have gone so NCLA have arranged to stream the event live so if you didn’t get tickets or live in New Jersey, Washington or on the Isle of Wight you can watch it LIVE!!

‘In celebration of the work and life of the extraordinary woman that was Julia Darling’, Mayfly Press is producing a commemorative edition of her novel Crocodile Soup. It’s got a lovely new cover but is still the great story it always was about Gert Hardcastle, her eccentric upbringing, and her courtship of the ballroom dancer Eva. If you haven’t read it yet you’re in for a treat. If you have, then now’s the time to read it again, it’s a fabulous tale.

This commemorative edition brings together her two full collections, Sudden Collapses in Public Places and Apology for Absence. It also includes a substantial selection of previously unpublished poems, along with early work from her days with the Poetry Virgins. Edited by Bev Robinson, with an introduction by Jackie Kay, Indelible, Miraculous will be available from Arc Publications from the end of May.

The winner of the first Julia Darling Travel Fellowship will be announced on Sunday 31st May at the Rendezvous 2 event at Live Theatre. The award of £2,000, open to creative writers in the North of England, was established by family and friends of Julia and is supported in this first year by New Writing North.
