Pearl a new selection of short stories by Julia Darling


We are really excited to announce the publication of Pearl of a new selection of Julia’s short stories. It will include some of the classics from her first collection Bloodlines along with ones that appeared in anthologies, magazines and were broadcast on Radio 4.

Julia Darling is a true original. Her particular way of looking at the world is infectious. Time and time again, the reader thinks, yes, that’s it, exactly. Here’s a whole cast of characters who will win over your heart.

To mark the publication Julia’s indomitable women will be brought to life by long term collaborator Zoe Lambert and another performer to be announced soon!! This short tour of performed readings directed by Laura Lindow will be at Durham Book Festival on Sunday 7 October, Bishop Auckland Town Hall Monday 8 October, Consett Library 9 October and the Star & Shadow Cinema, Newcastle on Friday 12th October.

There will also be a number of free creative writing workshops led by writers Kirsty Logan and Michelle Green (winner of the Julia Darling Travel Fellowhship 2016). These will be on Thursday 11 October they will be at Clayport Library (am), Chester-le-Street Library (pm);  Friday 12 October Newton Aycliffe Library (am), Sedgefield Library (pm) and Star and Shadow Cinema Newcastle (4.20-6.30pm), Saturday 13 October Star & Shadow (10am- 12pm). Pearl will be published by Mayfly Press and available from all good book outlets from early October.
